'They must be caught': Councillors speak out after woman is raped in Sheffield park

Councillors are urging people with information to come forward after a woman was raped in a Sheffield park.

The 21-year-old was targeted as she walked through High Hazels Park, Darnall, at around 6pm on Monday, November 23.

She reported the sex attack the following day.

Four men – two described as Eastern European and two as Asian – were involved in the attack, which is being treated as an ‘isolated’ incident by detectives.

A joint statement posted on Twitter on behalf of Councillors Mazher Iqbal, Mary Lea and Zahira Naz, reads: “This is a terrible crime committed in our community, our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family.

“These four perpetrators must be caught and we are asking for your help in this. Even the slightest bit of information could greatly assist this investigation.

“This is an isolated incident but South Yorkshire Police are ensuring extra police officers will be patrolling in the area to provide reassurance to worried residents.”
