These are the Sheffield streets thieves are targeting for breaking into cars

Police have issued a warning after thieves broke into a string of cars in Sheffield suburbs.

Officers in Crookes and Walkley said they had received several reports of thefts from motor vehicles over the last week, with tools, number plates, bikes, a mobile phone and sun glasses among the items taken.

Between Wednesday, January 29 and Tuesday, February 4, they said cars had been targeted on a number of streets.

Thieves have struck on Cromwell Street; Linaker Road; Northfield Close; Northfield Road; Stotherd Road; Stannington View Road; Bolehill Lane; and Compton Road.PCSO Pam Thompson said: “Please make sure that your vehicles are locked and secure before you leave them unattended, and keep valuable items out of view. Empty your glove box of items and leave the glove box open.”

The models most likely to be stolen by car thieves were recently revealed, with Audis, BMWs, Mercedes and Land Rovers topping the list.
