Terrifying moment man bounds down Sheffield street brandishing knife

A Sheffield man has been sentenced to six months in prison after brandishing a knife in the middle of a Sheffield street.

Jonathan Owoudzie, 48, was arrested in the Fir Vale area after officers received reports he was ‘waving a knife aggressively’ and ‘causing a lot of distress’ on Barnsley Road, Fir Vale.

PC Megan Pryce, the investigating officer on the case, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “When approached by officers, Owoudzie tried to run away, resulting in a short foot pursuit before he was detained on Owler Lane.

“We are absolutely committed to tackling knife-enabled crime and those found to be carrying weapons in the city will be dealt with accordingly.

Owoudzie was found guilty of possessing a bladed article at Sheffield Crown Court and sentenced to six months in prison.
