Teenagers filmed smashing footballs into air at Endcliffe Park in Sheffield

Footage of the antics has been shared online as anger over yesterday’s scenes in the popular park grows.

Huge crowds gathered in the park, with many drinking into the early hours of this morning.

An emergency clean-up operation was mounted earlier today when outraged local residents woke up to a sea of litter covering the grass in the park.

Sheffield Council said: “We know people have missed socialising in the sun but this is not what is meant by easing out of lockdown.

“Streets Ahead have been out since 6am clearing up but our resources could be much better spent.

“Enjoy Sheffield parks but don’t leave your mess, please love our parks.”

Council workers this morning said they were bracing themselves for a repeat of the crowds today.

South Yorkshire Police has been contacted but not yet commented.
