Teenagers arrested at Northern General Hospital in Sheffield for attempted murder after New Year’s Day stabbing

Two teenagers were arrested at a Sheffield hospital on suspicion of attempted murder.

The suspects, aged 17 and 18, were arrested at the Northern General Hospital on New Year’s Day.

South Yorkshire Police revealed today that the pair, who have since been bailed, were arrested over a stabbing on Rother View Road, Canklow, earlier that day.

The Canklow stabbing happened just under three hours after a fatal knife attack in Sheffield.

Isaiah Usen-Satchell, 18, suffered a fatal cut to his wrist when violence flared on St Aidan’s Road, Norfolk Park.

He was taken to hospital but could not be saved.

Five Rotherham men, aged 27, 22, 20 and two 18-year-olds, were arrested over the murder but have since been released under investigation.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Just before 12.20pm on Wednesday, January 1, police received a call from hospital staff in Sheffield, stating that an 18-year-old man had presented with a stab wound to his buttock.

“The victim reported being assaulted on Rother View Road, Canklow, at about 7am that morning by two people.

“An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have since been arrested in connection, on suspicion of attempted murder and both remain in custody at this time.

“The two arrested have since been bailed pending further enquiries.”

Referring to the Canklow incident and the Sheffield murder, the force added: “At this stage there is no evidential link between the two incidents. As with any investigation we are keeping an open mind and will go where the evidence takes us.”
