Teenager granted bail after being arrested over rape of girl, 12, in Sheffield
A teenage boy has been bailed after being quizzed over the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Sheffield.
The 16-year-old boy was arrested yesterday on suspicion of rape after after a girl was attacked in Richmond Heights Woods, Richmond, in the early hours of Sunday.
South Yorkshire Police said the sex attack was reported just before 3.35am, with the rape having taken place around an hour earlier, at 2.30am.
Detective Inspector Tom Woodward said: “This is a complex enquiry and officers from my team are currently working hard to establish the events surrounding this alleged incident.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who has information - no matter how minor you think it might be – to come forward.
“If you have any concerns about what happened please do speak to your local neighbourhood officer.
“The girl and her family continue to receive support from specialist officers.”
