Nicholas Campbell QC, prosecuting, told the trial Mr Bagshaw was attacked after a dispute arose following an assault on Mr Bagshaw’s father Daniel Cutts by the 17-year-old and allegedly by Mr Humphrey over a drugs dispute.

Mr Campbell said the 17-year-old had been in a BMW X5 car with his three co-accused when they crossed paths with Mr Bagshaw and his friends in Vauxhall Corsa, on Piper Crescent, on July 21.

The 17-year-old pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Mr Cutts but Mr Humphrey was found not guilty of causing GBH or GBH with intent.

Concerning the 17-year-old, Mr Justice Matthew Nicklin said: “I must take a report before his sentencing. There is only one sentence of life for murder but I have to consider a minimum term for what he has to serve before he can be released.”

Ramsey claimed he had played no part in any violence.
