Teenager arrested following police chase through Sheffield which ended in car crash

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy after he led them on a police chase from Woodhouse to Intake yesterday (April 6), which only ended once he crashed his car.

The under-aged driver was seen by witnesses leading the police on the chase, when he crashed into a parked vehicle on Newlands Grove, S12.

A statement from South Yorkshire Police said: “Yesterday, at around 3:50pm, a silver Vauxhall Astra caught the attention of officers on Moss Way in Sheffield due to the manner of driving.

“Officers requested the car to stop. The driver failed to stop for officers and a pursuit commenced from Woodhouse to Intake. The car came to stop after colliding with an unattended car.

“A 16-year-old boy was arrested at the scene on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving and document offences.”

South Yorkshire Police yesterday warned drivers not to speed on the quieter roads during lockdown.
