Teenager arrested after Sheffield shooting

A teenager has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Sheffield.

Police attended Harwell Road in the Nether Edge area of the city at around 3.15pm on August 29 after receiving reports that shots had been fired.

An 18-year-old was found with foot injuries consistent with a firearms discharge and was taken to hospital for treatment.

He has since been discharged.

On Friday, officers from South Yorkshire Police carried out a raid in Nether Edge as part of the probe into the crime.

A 19-year-old, from Sheffield, was arrested on suspicion of firearms and drug offences.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Murphy said: “There have been a number of shootings in several of our communities in recent months and I know how concerning these incidents are for people.

“Please be assured, we are taking action.

“If you have any information, no matter how small, I would urge you to report this to us."
