A teenager has apologised for smashing a church window after hurling a bottle containing a stone at it.
The 16-year-old hurled the missile at Hathersage Methodist Church in September.
He was dealt with under the restorative justice scheme, which avoids offenders of low-level crimes having to go to court if their victims agree.
PC Anthony Boswell, from Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “It took a while to track the suspect down but we eventually caught up with him.
“We are always happy to use restorative justice where appropriate, but the final decision always lies with the victim.
“The teenager has been spoken to about his behaviour and has written a letter of apology for the damage.”
