Almost one year to the day since the killing, the teenage murderer is to appear at Sheffield Crown Court next week to find out the minimum number of years he must spend behind bars before he can be considered for parole.

He was found guilty of murder after a trial in March and has been in custody since, but the judge has not yet set the minimum tariff.

Lewis was chased by his killer and knifed in his chest on the Southey estate.

The killer was a drug dealer who was driven around Sheffield by older drivers in return for him paying for their car insurance policies.

He had clashed with Lewis’ dad a few weeks before the fatal stabbing, and Lewis had confronted the teen on the day of the killing.

Lewis was a dad-of-one, whose son Carter is just two years old.

Speaking to The Star last week, Lewis’ heartbroken partner, Olivia Keeley, said: “The law needs to change. Anyone caught with a knife needs to be locked up there and then. No second chances. The justice system has to treat knife carrying more seriously so that people are scared to do it.

“Anyone who goes out with a knife, I beg them to think about the families they will destroy if they use that weapon.”
