A TEENAGE boy was surrounded by a mob of about 12 youths and robbed of the £10 in his pocket.

The lad was returning to his grandfather’s car from a takeaway on Spital Hill, Sheffield, when he was targeted, assaulted and robbed.

His 62-year-old grandfather claims he too was attacked when he intervened to try to protect the teenager.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers attended a report of an assault on Spital Hill.

“Our system suggests it was 12 to 13 males that surrounded the caller’s grandson, and it is alleged he had £10 taken from his pocket in the assault. Inquiries are ongoing.”
