Teen arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving after Sheffield crash

A teenager was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving, after a car crashed into a fence near Sheffield city centre.

The woman, aged 19, was detained following a crash on Suffolk Road, close to Sheffield railway station on Wednesday, June 24.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Shortly before 11.30pm, it’s understood that a grey Seat Leon exited Fornham Street on to Suffolk Road when it lost control and crashed.

“Three occupants were in the Seat at the time of the collision. None of them are believed to have been seriously injured.

“The driver, a 19-year-old woman from Rotherham, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit of drink and drugs, possession of cannabis and dangerous driving. She has since been released under investigation.”

The road was reportedly closed for around two hours following the crash.
