Stocksbridge man arrested for seriously injuring scooter rider in crash with land rover

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Cubley yesterday evening (Wednesday 2 June).

At about 8.15pm it was reported that a black Land Rover Discovery was involved in a collision with a Piaggio scooter on Mortimer Road in Cubley.

Emergency services attended the scene and the scooter rider, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 47-year-old man from Stocksbridge has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

He remains in custody.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles prior to the incident is urged to contact police. Officers are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a white Ford Ranger, who may have witnessed the collision.
