South Yorkshire woman breached restraining order just a day after beng sentenced

A woman breached a restraining order one day after it had been imposed for harassing her mother.

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court - sitting at Sheffield Crown Court - heard today, April 17, how Catherine Pellegrine, aged 40, of Doncaster Road, Eastwood, Rotherham, was given the order on April 15 but admitted breaching it on April 16.

Alison Goldsmith, prosecuting, said Pellegrine breached the order by visiting her mother’s Rotherham home to discuss a prescription.

Pellegrine previously received a community order and a restraining order after admitting harassment by repeatedly visiting her mother and demanding money.

Matthew Shepherd, defending, said there have been difficulties because Pellegrine’s mother has been managing her benefits and her methadone prescription.

Pellegrine was re-sentenced with a similar 12-month community order but her six-month restraining order now strictly bans her from accessing her mother’s address by any means. She must pay a £95 victim surcharge.

District Judge Naomi Redhouse warned any further breach would mean custody.
