South Yorkshire thug hit mum with lager bottle until it smashed

Jamie Radford, aged 19, was drinking lager and vodka when he argued with his partner and left their Cedar Grove home in Rotherham, "ranting and raving," on June 24.
His mum, who had remonstrated with him about the way he treated his partner, followed him outside where Radford made threats to kill her, prosecutor Beverly Wright said.

Hide Ad"I will f****** kill you," he shouted. "I will go down for murder. I don't care. I could kill you right now but I won't. I love you."
He hit his mother at least four times with the bottle until it smashed, then hit her until she fell to the ground.
Witnesses saw him punch the back of her head, walk away and then return to kick her in the side of her body.
Radford's father, who is registered blind, tried to intervene, but his son hit him several times and knocked his glasses off.

Hide AdAs he tried to look for them because he couldn't see, Radford hit him on the side of the head, Sheffield Crown Court heard on Friday.
Hs mother was left with lumps and bruising, and a small puncture wound to the chest, his father with a facial laceration and bruising.
When Judge Graham Reeds QC told him he would suspend the sentence, Radford began smiling until he was warned not to smirk.
Francis Edusei, mitigating, said Radford pleaded guity to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating, at the first opportunity, and had no previous convictions.

Hide AdThe judge told him: "In my judgment you need help and if possible medication for your mental health problems.
"It's important that you have had a taste of custody as that ought to remind you what will happen if you breach the suspended sentence."
He gave Radford eight months, suspended for a year, on condition he lives with his grandparents in Sheffield.
