South Yorkshire Police worker sacked for drink driving

A South Yorkshire Police worker has been sacked for drink driving after being breathalysed when she arrived at work.

The woman, who worked in the specialist crime services department, lost her job after a misconduct hearing this month.

South Yorkshire Police said the officer was accused of discreditable conduct after her positive breath test.

The force said she was tested after she arrived at work and was found to be over the drink drive limit.

The member of staff, who was convicted at court, admitted her actions.

South Yorkshire Police said: “A member of staff was accused of driving their motor vehicle to work whilst over the prescribed limit.

“The staff member subsequently appeared at court and received a criminal conviction.

“The Misconduct Panel found that the matter did amount to gross misconduct and the most appropriate outcome was for the staff member to be dismissed without notice.

“The allegation was fully admitted by the staff member.”
