When the officers turned around to follow, the driver of the vehicle reacted, failing to stop and attempting to flee.

The car is said to have reached up to 100mph during the chase, with police identifying the vehicle as one reported stolen two days earlier.

The National Police Air Service was called as the driver and passenger were followed into a housing estate in Kendray, where an on-foot chase followed.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Once again attempting to flee our officers, both occupants of the vehicle put their parkour skills to the test and hopped several fences to try to hide in some gardens.

“Their hiding skills were short lived, with one occupant being detained by our officers and the other occupant being detained by PD Pablo and his handler.”

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, burglary and dangerous driving.

He has since been charged with driving while disqualified, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.

A 24-year-old man also arrested for multiple driving offences was released on bail.
