South Yorkshire Police release man without charge after shooting

A man arrested over a shooting outside a South Yorkshire supermarket has been released without charge.

The 27-year-old was arrested after a 29-year-old man was shot in his back during an incident outside a supermarket on Burman Road, Wath, Rotherham, on Friday, January 10.

Emergency services were alerted to the shooting at 8.05pm and an injured man was taken to hospital for treatment.

He has since been discharged.

A suspect arrested at the scene was quizzed by detectives before being released without charge.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Enquiries remain ongoing to identify the offender and officers remain in the area carrying out house-to-house and CCTV enquiries.”

There were two shootings in Sheffield last Friday night.

Shots were fired in the Meersbrook area at 10.55pm and five minutes later a gun was fired at the Kettle Black bar on Ecclesall Road.
