South Yorkshire Police issue statement over ‘stabbing’ fears after man seeks hospital treatment

The force acted after fears were voiced after a man attended Doncaster Royal Infirmary with stab wounds on Monday afternoon.

Investigations revealed that the 35-year-old sustained the wounds in a property in Wath but no criminality was involved.

Police officers are not looking for anyone in connection to the incident.

South Yorkshire Police said: “We're aware that there are some concerns being raised locally that an incident might be connected to criminal activity.

“Police were called at 3.40pm on Monday, February 22 following reports a man had attended at hospital in Doncaster with suspected stab wounds.

“The 35-year-old man is currently receiving treatment.

“It is understood that the man suffered the injuries at a property in the Wath area of Rotherham.

“At this time, there is not thought to be any connection to criminal activity and police are not seeking anyone in connection with the incident.”
