South Yorkshire Police reveal four banned from shops after courts use antisocial behaviour powers
Police describe latest actions as courts issues special orders
Four men have been banned from shops, after South Yorkshire Police action around anti-social behaviour laws.
Officers have told how courts have issued four Criminal Behaviour Orders over the last three weeks, which ban four people from entering certain shops, and how one person has been jailed for breaking an order issued against him.
Police describe the orders as tools to ‘prevent repeat offenders from terrorising local communities’, and have today issued pictures of the people who have received orders, to help enforce the bans.
The four orders were issued in Barnsley, targeting shoplifters and people who cause anti-social behaviour. Breaking them can result in a jail term, warn officers.
Police said in a statement: “If you see anyone you think may be breaking their CBO conditions, report it to us so officers can take action.”
Duane Stephenson

Duane Stephenson, aged 42, was handed a 12-month prison sentence by Barnsley magistrates on Tuesday (September 1), for breaking his CBO conditions and ‘multiple’ shoplifting offences.
Stephenson, of Springwood Avenue, Barnsley, was subject to a CBO which prevented him from entering the One Stop Shop in Hoyland. He was also ordered to pay £700 in compensation and costs.
Anthony Crossland

Anthony Crossland, 37, of Honeywell Street, Barnsley, was handed a three year CBO by magistrates on September 1, and ordered to pay over £700 in compensation and costs, after being convicted of multiple shoplifting offences.
His order bans him from entering any retail premises on The Peel Centre, Dryden Road, or Asda on Old Mill Lane, Barnsley.
Shane Williamson

Police say Shane Williamson, aged 47, of Standhill Crescent, Barnsley, was handed a three-year CBO by a court after being convicted of multiple shoplifting offences, on 19 August.
He has been ordered to not enter or attempt to enter any Co-op store in the Barnsley area.
Dale Tait

Dale Tait, 43, of Shepley Street, Wakefield, was handed a variation to his current three year CBO by magistrates.
His order now means he is not allowed to enter Barnsley town centre except Barnsley Interchange for transport purposes. He is also not allowed to enter the Super Convivence Store and Premier Store on Dodworth Road, and or the One Stop on Barugh Green Road, Barnsley.
