South Yorkshire Police catch man driving at 96mph in the rain

A motorist was caught driving at 96mph in the rain on the M1 in South Yorkshire.

The man, who was behind the wheel of a Volvo, failed to notice a police car travelling behind him on Monday and reached a top speed of 96mph.

His speed was recorded on camera and when he was stopped, police officers established that he already had nine points on his licence for speeding.

He has been sent to court, where a ban is likely.
