Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 2 how Dean Edwards, aged 48, of Dawson Avenue, Rawmarsh, Rotherham, admitted breaking a window at his ex's home after he had been out with others including his ex on New Year’s Eve.

District Judge Paul Healey confirmed Edwards remained at the address after other members of the family including the victim had left the property and he returned and became angry and put a window through.

District Judge Healey said he was concerned Edwards had been intoxicated when he threw a brick at the window on January 1.

He sentenced Edwards to a 12-month community order with 120 hours of unpaid work with a three-year restraining order. He must pay £275 in compensation, costs and a victim surcharge.
