A Rotherham man has been charged with attempted murder following an attack on a mother and her three children in Cornwall.

Emergency services were called to a property in the village of Sennen, near Land’s End.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a 33-year-old woman suffered a stab wound to her neck, while her three children also suffered injuries.

Her sons, aged nine and five, suffered head injuries while her seven-year-old daughter had facial injuries.

A force spokesman said: “All the victims were taken to Treliske for treatment. None of the injuries are life-threatening.”

Steven Challands, aged 34, from Rotherham, has been charged with attempted murder, actual bodily harm, four counts of false imprisonment and two of grievous bodily harm.

He appeared at Truro Magistrates’ Court and was remanded to appear at Truro Crown Court on May 27.
