A South Yorkshire man has been charged after a break-in at Liberty Steel.

At around 5.20am on August 14, South Yorkshire Police was informed that a man had entered the site and was attempting to remove cable from inside the premises.

The man then fled across live railway lines.

Leon Smith was found nearby and arrested by officers.

The 30-year-old was later charged with commercial burglary.

Smith, of George Place, Rotherham, is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on September 14.
