Sheffield Crown Court heard on March 18 how Kevin Burgwin, aged 44, of High Street, Barnsley, has admitted producing cannabis.

However, Stephanie Hollis, prosecuting, said: “The Crown says it was 11 plants and the quantity was in excess of what was required for one person.”

Amy Earnshaw, defending, confirmed Burgwin’s position is that the drugs were for personal use.

Judge Michael Slater told Burgwin: “Before you can be sentenced it is going to be necessary to gain what the factual basis of the production was.

“In other words, was it for your personal use or for the sale to others.”

Judge Slater adjourned the case for a Newton hearing on May 22.

Burgwin was released on unconditional bail.
