Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on August 26 how Joshua Hancock, aged 27, of Redmarsh Avenue, Rawmarsh, Rotherham, was approached by police on Stocks Lane and found to be over the drink-drive limit in May.

Emily King, prosecuting, said police claimed the vehicle was being driven suspiciously and as it parked near the officers the defendant ran but was detained nearby and he failed a drink-drive test.

Hancock, who has a previous drink-drive conviction, pleaded guilty to exceeding the alcohol drink-drive limit after registering 62 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when the limit is 35 microgrammes.

Mark Bates, defending, said Hancock is apologetic and had been moving the car because it was blocking a neighbour’s house.

Hancock was fined £400 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge. He was also disqualified from driving for 36-months.
