A South Yorkshire police officer accused of beating a 16-year-old boy following a football match in Barnsley is to face the crown court in January.

Pc William Sampson is charged with unlawful and malicious wounding over the incident on Midland Street, in Barnsley town centre, in February.

The incident followed the Barnsley v Sheffield Wednesday match.

Pc Sampson, 26, was scheduled to appear before Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday, December 30.
