A SHOPWORKER was hit over the head with a hammer in a raid where robbers stole cash and a mobile phone.

The 28-year-old was working in Holmesdale Stores, Holmesdale Road, Dronfield, on Wednesday, at about 9.50pm, when two man brandishing a hammer and a knife burst in.

One approached and struck out with the hammer – leaving him with cuts and bruises to his head. The robber then demanded cash and a phone.

He was white and wearing a black hooded jacket and baseball cap, dark work-style trousers and black shoes, with a dark scarf covering his face.

The knifeman, who stood in the doorway, wore black trousers, a grey hooded top, and a striped scarf over his face.
