SHOCKING PICTURES: Driver leaves trail of destruction in Sheffield suburb in bid to escape being caught by police
A driver being chased by police left a trail of destruction in a Sheffield suburb last night, after he crashed into several cars and a van as he tried to make his escape.
The incident took place in and around Southey Avenue, Southey at around 10.30pm last night.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said firefighers from Elm Lane station were called out to assist the police, and said the driver ploughed into two cars and a van as he attempted to evade being arrested by South Yorkshire Police.
“Thankfully, all of the vehicles were stationary when he crashed into them so nobody was hurt,” the spokesman added.
Eye-witness, Jonathan Giles, said: “He was being chased by the cops...flew off a speed bump, hit a van, then a car that then got sandwiched by him and a tree.”
“He spun off, got tasered twice and ran off into Longley Park. No-one else involved apart from driver,” added Jonathan, 30, of Piper Close, Longley.
South Yorkshire Police were contacted for more information, but have declined to comment on the incident.
