Shocking moment police break into Sheffield Halloween rave as £10,000 fines are issued

The footage, from a police body worn camera, shows party-goers crammed into the cellar of a house on Saturday, October 31, in breach of Tier 3 Covid restrictions, which ban people from different households mixing indoors.
At the same party, one woman in fancy dress was captured admitting that she should have been self-isolating.

Hide AdOfficers issued nine £10,000 fines on Saturday night after busting unlawful Halloween gatherings on Endcliffe Crescent, Endcliffe and homes in Club Garden Road and Stalker Lees Road, both in Sharrow.
The parties had all been pre-organised, with one attended by more than 70 people.
In the early hours of Sunday, officers also busted an illegal rave, attended by around 300 people, in a disused building in Kelham Island, Sheffield.
Superintendent Paul McCurry, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “Organising house parties at a time when the infection rate is rising so rapidly is extremely irresponsible.

Hide Ad“Hospital admissions are continuing to increase and in order for these to slow down, we must reduce the spread of the virus between different households.
“Now more than ever, we all need to do our bit to slow the spread of this virus, and protect our health service. I hope that this serves as a warning that where necessary, we will take action against those who show a clear disregard for the measures which are in place to protect others.”
Elsewhere in the county, twenty £200 fines were issued in Ingbirchworth, Barnsley, after police discovered another gathering in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The University of Sheffield has urged all its students to follow coronavirus rules after it emerged that a student at one of their properties was fined by police.
