According to NHS England there have been a total of 27,044 deaths at hospitals in England during the coronavirus outbreak – up 179 since yesterday’s figures were released, which is the highest daily increase since May 21.

The figures do not include deaths in care homes or any other settings in the community.

There have been 186 deaths recorded by the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which is up three on yesterday’s figures; 166 in Rotherham – an increase of one, and 125 in Barnsley, which is the same as yesterday.

Some lockdown measures were eased this week, meaning groups of six from different households can now meet outside as long as people remain two metres apart.
