Sheffield woman Kerry Taylor due in court accused of murder

A Sheffield woman is due in court today for her second hearing since being charged with murder.

Kerry Taylor, aged 41, is due at at Sheffield Crown Court for a preliminary hearing after being charged with murder earlier this week.

Taylor, of Ravenscroft Place, Richmond, is accused of killing 55-year-old Simone Hancock, who was fatally stabbed on Saturday, July 4.

Ms Hancock, a mum and grandmother, was injured in an attack in a flat in Ravenscroft Place and taken to hospital but pronounced dead an hour later.

A 36-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder was released under investigation while police enquiries into the death continue.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 10.30pm and sealed off the crime scene for a forensic examination to be carried out.

Anyone with information about the death should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident 1,202 of July 4.
