A Sheffield woman is due in court today accused of terrorism offences.

Zafreen Khadam, aged 31, is accused of 10 offences of the dissemination of terrorist publications.

She was arrested by officers from the North East Counter Terrorism Unit in March and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.

A Counter Terrorism Unit spokesman said: “This investigation was intelligence led and there is no evidence to suggest that any communities were or are at immediate risk in connection with this operation.”

The dissemination of terrorist publications includes the distribution, circulation, giving, selling, lending or making available of terrorism-related material.

The law states that the person disseminating the material must intend or be reckless as to whether his or her conduct encourages, induces or provides assistance to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
