Sheffield Crown Court recently heard how Chung Lloyd Ho-Shing, 46, of Firshill Crescent, Crabtree, illegally claimed £22,601 in housing benefit and Employment Support Allowance after he failed to disclose money he had received from family.

Robert Coyne, prosecuting, told a previous Sheffield Magistrates' Court hearing the over-payment was £22,601 over four years but it had not been fraudulent from the outset but he failed to disclose he had capital.

He also admitted fraud by failing to disclose capital to the Department for Work and Pensions concerning an ESA claim between 2014 and 2016.

Pari Seeley, defending, said the money was transferred from his family.

Ho-Shing was sentenced in February to five-months of custody suspended for 12 months.
