Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United among clubs to donate shirts in tribute to Jordan Sinnott

South Yorkshire’s biggest football clubs, including both Sheffield teams, have taken part in a tribute for tragic ex-Chesterfield player Jordan Sinnott.

Jordan, who also had spells with Alfreton and Matlock Town, died on Saturday (25 January) following an incident in Nottinghamshire earlier that day.

His family are trying to gather as many different football shirts as possible with ‘Sinnott 25’ printed on the back to remember the “amazing” 25-year-old at his funeral.

Jordan’s brother Tom said the family have had confirmation of donations from almost every team in the English leagues, with Scottish clubs, non-league sides and even Sunday league teams also donating shirts.

Doncaster Rovers, Rotherham United, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday have now all donated to the cause. The Millers also wore black armbands for their match against Ipswich Town on Tuesday (28 January) as a mark of respect for Jordan, and a show of their support to one of his closest friends, Matt Crooks, who plays for Rotherham.

Sheffield Wednesday posted a picture of their ‘Sinnott 25’ shirt with a blue heart, writing: “On its way to @JordanShirts, with love from the SWFC family. RIP Jordan”.

Meanwhile, Doncaster posted a picture of members of their team and said: “From Jordan's friend @Joewright47 and his #DRFC team-mates, this is on its way.”

On Tuesday three men were charged with in connection with Jordan’s death. Two men were charged with manslaughter and another has been accused of affray.

All three have been remanded into custody.
