Sheffield thief is re-sentenced after failing to comply with court order

A thief who failed to comply with a community order has been re-sentenced with a six-month community order.

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 15 how Amber Rossiter, 37, of Snow Lane, Sheffield, admitted failing to attend a probation appointment on November 8.

Karen Smith, defending, told the court Rossiter had been living a chaotic lifestyle after coming from Somersett.

Rossiter had been told she would have to travel to Meadowhall for appointments and that had frightened her, according to Ms Smith.

Ms Smith added Rossiter wants to co-operate to find permanent accommodation after she has been living rough.

She said that Rossiter is on a methadone prescription to help her with a drug issue.

The probation service added Rossiter needs help with benefits.

District Judge Naomi Redhouse re-sentenced Rossiter on all the shop theft matters she has from 2018 to a six-month community order with a Drug Rehabilitation Requirement and a Rehabilitation Requirement.
