Sheffield teenager caught over drink-drive limit after cops spot him 'asleep in vehicle'

Police caught a teenage reveller over the drink-drive limit after they spotted his vehicle in a car park in the early hours.

Josh Parker, aged 18, of Yew Lane, Sheffield, was spotted asleep in his vehicle by police at Grenoside Wood car park, a Sheffield Magistrates’ Court hearing was told on January 30.

Robert Coyne, prosecuting, said: “The defendant was asleep in the driver’s side and police managed to attract his attention and upon waking him up he opened the car window and he started the car engine and the gearbox was grinding.”

Parker pleaded guilty to exceeding the drink-drive limit after the incident about 4.50am, on January 5.

Khateeb Riaz, defending, said Parker had been out with his girlfriend and had decided not to sleep at her home.

Magistrates fined Parker £130 and he must pay £85 costs and a £21 victim surcharge.

He was banned from driving for 12 months
