A man critically injured in a stabbing in Sheffield is improving and now in a stable condition.

The 54-year-old sought treatment for stab wounds at the Northern General Hospital in the early hours of Friday, July 10.

A short time earlier police officers were alerted to a disturbance on Lyons Road, Pitsmoor.

It is believed that the injured man was stabbed there.

A 32 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over the incident.On Saturday, July 4, a 21-year-old man was seriously injured in a stabbing on neighbouring Lyons Street, Pitsmoor.

He remained in hospital over the weekend but an update on his condition has not yet been provided today

Detectives do not believe the two incidents to be linked.
