Jack Parkin assaulted the woman at the guesthouse where she lived after kicking in her door and causing £150 of damage, on August 1, prosecutor Kristina Goodwin told Sheffield Crown Court.
His victim was left with a bruised stomach. When he was arrested three days later, he was found with the Class B drug "spice."

Police checked on the woman in March this year and found Parkin had visited her after his release, and called her several times, between February 26 and June 23.
He also stole £55 of aftershave from Boots, and £40 of beef from Marks & Spencer, on July 1, Ms Goodwin added.
The court heard he has 41 previous convictions for 85 offences, including violence, drugs and damage.

She said his grandmother had put £10 into his partner’s bank account for him.
"He has had an addiction to drugs since the age of 14,” she added.
"He accepts he had a problem with spice at the time. He has put on three stones while he has been incarcerated.

Parkin, 29, of Wostenholm Road, Nether Edge, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to possession of a Class B drug, two shop thefts, assault, criminal damage and the second breach of the restraining order.
Recorder Gavin Doig imposed a new restraining order, banning him from contacting his new partner for five years, and reminded him the first order is still in place.
He jailed Parkin for a total of ten months, on Thursday.
