Officers from South Yorkshire Police were deployed to to Villiers Close, Arbourthorne, after residents heard ‘shots fired’ yesterday evening (Monday, December 2).

Here’s everything we know about the incident so far.

*At 9.20pm yesterday (Monday, December 2) police received a call reporting that shots had been fired on Villiers Close

*Officers attended the scene and found evidence of a firearms discharge

*There have been no reported injuries

*No arrests have yet been made

*The road was initially closed for some time, but has since re-opened, South Yorkshire Police confirmed

*Police remain on scene

*Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances of the incident and neighbourhood officers are carrying out additional patrols as ‘reassurance for local people’

*Residents told the Star they fear this is the ‘fourth shooting’ on the estate in two weeks

*But they added they’re not aware of any problems in the area, adding ‘we tend to keep ourselves to ourselves’

*There have been reports of a police drone being used in the investigation
