Sheffield shooting scene was like “something out of a film”

Witnesses told how they heard loud bangs and and screaming as a reported shooting took place in a quiet Sheffield suburb.

Detectives in Sheffield are still investigating following a reported shooting in Ashpool Close, Woodhouse on Friday.

A woman who did not want to be named told The Star: “We heard a bang and thought it was fireworks but there was no flash.

"Then there was another one and we realised it wasn’t fireworks. They were shots.

"A young lass was screaming “there’s blood everywhere.”

“The police came in their unmarked cars and it was like something out of a film.”

"Armed police were pacing up and down with their guns.

"They cordoned it off.”

"The people around here are elderly and disabled – they don’t need it.”

Police were conducting house to house visits on Sunday morning though the cordons had been removed.

Bloodstains were still visible on the floor and wall outside one of the houses.

At around 10.40pm police were called to Ashpool Close, Woodhouse following reports of a shooting.

On arrival, officers discovered two men with injuries consistent with a shotgun discharge. They were both taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

There will be an increased police presence in the area today and throughout the weekend as investigations continue.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may hold information which might help the investigation, particularly anyone who may have CCTV footage.
