In an update issued at around 9am, a South Yorkshire fire Service spokesman said: “We've still got four fire engines and a high volume pump at the fire on Carlisle Street in Sheffield which we've been dealing with since Thursday afternoon.

" We're still asking people to avoid the area and for residents living nearby to keep windows and doors closed.”

They are planning a fire break in the scrap pile with diggers brought in to create a gap in the rubble to slow down the spread.
