Lauren Hague, aged 16, was at a bus stop on Handsworth Road, Handsworth, when she was nearly struck by a bus which veered out of control and crashed into Stay Fresh Barbers just feet away from where she was.
The teenager’s mum, Cheryl Hague, said the bus was carrying schoolchildren, some of whom were crying afterwards.

“She said it missed her by about a metre and smashed into the barbers.
“A man next to her at the bus stop said ‘that could have killed us’.”
Cheryl added: “Lauren was not concerned for herself, she was more worried about the schoolchildren on the bus at the time but she said she saw them all get off and although some were crying and a couple had nose bleeds, she said they did not look seriously injured.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were deployed to the scene after the crash was reported.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is now under way, with police officers speaking to witnesses at the scene.
