Sheffield schoolboy remains in hospital after shooting

A Sheffield schoolboy injured in a drive-by shooting remains in hospital today.

The 12-year-old was shot in his leg when a gun was fired from a passing car on Northern Avenue, Arbourthorne, on Sunday, January 12.

He was stood with a group of teenage friends at the time of the shooting and is said to have been an innocent bystander caught up in a dispute between two rival gangs.

The intended target is believed to have been in the Arbourthorne area when the gun was fired.

Two men, aged 30 and 25 have both been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

They remain in custody while police enquiries into the incident continue.

There have been a number of shootings in and around Arbourthorne over recent months.
