Sheffield roadworks abandoned after worker attacked and ‘threatened with large knife’

Resurfacing work was abandoned last night on Beighton Road Woodhouse after a construction workers was allegedly assaulted, then threatened with a ‘large knife’.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “An incident was called in to us at 9.55 pm following a disturbance at Beighton Road, Woodhouse

“There had been an altercation between a member of the public and a member of the maintenance crew, aged 60 who suffered minor injuries.

“Officers attended but the suspect had made off prior to the police getting there.”

Streets Ahead tweeted this morning : “Unfortunately, resurfacing work on Beighton Rd has been delayed. We will retweet once work resumes. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you all for your patience.”
