Sheffield road 'on lockdown' after 12-year-old ‘assaulted’

Officers are currently in attendance and have placed a cordon on Northern Avenue in the Arbourthorne area, near the Co-op.
Eyewitnesses say the area is currently ‘on lockdown’ with ‘police cars everywhere’ and the road ‘taped off’.

Hide AdReports are circulating on social media that the 12-year-old, who is believed to be male, was shot ‘accidentally' after being caught in a crossfire.
But when contacted by the Star earlier, a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “The only information we can provide at this time is that we received a call from the ambulance service at 3.44pm, saying that a 12-year-old had been assaulted.
“No further details are available at this time. This is an ongoing incident,” the spokesperson added.
The Star has again contacted police for more information and is awaiting their response.
