Man suspected of attempted murder after 20-year-old is stabbed in Sheffield city centre

A man, 30, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man, 20, was stabbed in Sheffield city centre this morning.

Police were called at around 11:30am on Wednesday 9 June to reports of a fight in Arundel Gate, Sheffield City Centre.

It is reported that a number of men were witnessed fighting, armed with a knife and a metal bar. The men then fled the scene.

Police attended the scene and a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 20-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital via ambulance after suffering a serious stab wound. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Enquiries are ongoing and a cordon is in place in Norfolk Street whilst officers carry out their investigation.
