Sheffield nightclub fire now under control as firefighters begin 'damping down'

Firefighters are now ‘damping down’ the fore at a Sheffield nightclub that has been burning since the early hours of this morning.

Eight fire engines were called out to tackle the blaze at Arena on Burgess Street after it was reported at 1.20am on April 12 that the former club was heavily smoke-logged.

Four engines now remain at the scene, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

The results of the investigation are expected next week.

No injuries were reported.
