Sheffield mum sends message to ‘scumbags’ who stole Christmas presents, car and thousands of pounds

They struck at a house on Loxley Road, Wisewood, between midnight and 5am, after forcing open a downstairs window.

Once inside the property the crooks stole an Orange Crush mountain bike from the kitchen and a red Ford Focus from outside after finding the keys to the car, which has the registration number MA14 KCN.

They also stole a PlayStation games console and a £170 Ted Baker bag, which contained cash cards, a driving licence and pantomime tickets.

A box of wrapped Christmas gifts for relatives was also stolen along with four envelopes each containing £200.

Jessica Wass, aged 45, said she is devastated at the break-in and labelled those responsible ‘scumbags'.

The envelopes containing cash were for the four children Mrs Wass and her husband have between them.

One of their sons also lost £400 in birthday money when the burglars stole his North Face jacket, where he was keeping the cash.

Mrs Wass said: "They forced their way in through a small lounge window at the front of the house and let themselves out the back, as they would not have been able to get the bike through the window.

“They must have been really quiet because there were four of us in the house and the dog never barked.

“They have searched the living room and kitchen and taken anything of value. They even took wrapped Christmas presents for young relatives, such as Fisher Price toys.”

She added: “It is devastating and a real invasion of privacy when they come into your home.”

A police probe into the incident is under way and forensics officers are due at the house today.

Neighbours with CCTV cameras have also handed over their footage to help with the police probe.

Mrs Wass said: “From posts I have seen on Facebook, it looks like there were a number of break-ins last night.

“There was one near Malin Bridge School and another on Pond Road in Stannington, where all the Christmas presents were taken from the garage.”

PC Emily Munden said: “It is reported that a red Ford Focus Zetec was taken during the burglary, along with a high valued blue 'Orange Crush' mountain bike. The family have also had Christmas presents stolen, just a week before the big day.

“I’d like to remind people how vital it is to think about home security at this time of year, please lock your doors and windows to prevent your home being targeted by thieves.”
